Presenting History and Art Journal

I am pleased to introduce History and Art Journal, a digital, open‑access, scholar‑led publication dedicated to advancing research in history, art, cultural heritage, and documentary practices. The journal has been conceived as a space where rigorous scholarship and interdisciplinary perspectives can converge, offering researchers an opportunity to share studies that illuminate the past through its documents, images, and material expressions.

Hosted on Zenodo, the journal embraces the principles of open access, transparency, and international collaboration. Its scope reflects the breadth and richness of the humanities, welcoming work that engages with cultural heritage and preservation, archival and documentary culture, art history and iconography, visual and material culture, genealogy and noble identity, and digital humanities applied to historical or artistic research. Contributions may take the form of research articles, documentary studies, critical editions, visual analyses, methodological reflections, or other scholarly outputs aligned with the journal’s mission. Submissions are welcomed from researchers, independent scholars, and professionals working across the humanities and heritage sectors.

To ensure academic quality and thematic coherence, History and Art Journal applies an editorial curation process. All submissions are reviewed by the editorial team, who assess their relevance to the journal’s fields of interest, the clarity and rigour of their argumentation, the responsible use of sources, and their adherence to ethical and legal standards. Authors may receive recommendations for revision when appropriate. Submissions that do not meet the journal’s academic standards or fall outside its thematic focus may be declined.

Researchers interested in contributing to the journal are warmly invited to explore the Zenodo community and consider submitting their work: https://zenodo.org/communities/history-and-art-journal/

History and Art Journal is published in Doncaster, United Kingdom, and aims to foster a vibrant, international dialogue around history, art, and documentary culture.
